In the last few hours, A24 has released online the official trailer of the already announced The Death of Robin Hood, a film by Michael Sarnoski that promises to deconstruct and completely overturn the image we have always had of the legendary outlaw, played for the occasion by Hugh Jackman.

In this new reimagining of the character, immersed in a dark and violent atmosphere, we see Robin Hood portrayed as a ferocious bandit devoted to a life of crime and, despite this, already at the center of a popular tale that paints him as a far nobler figure than he actually was. The short official synopsis of the film reads as follows:

Grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, bandit Robin Hood finds himself gravely wounded after what he thought would be his last battle. In the hands of a mysterious woman, however, he is offered a chance at salvation.

The Death of Robin Hood was written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, while the film’s producers include Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett for Ryder Picture Company, along with Alexander Black for Lyrical Media. Michael Sarnoski and Hugh Jackman serve as executive producers, along with Rama Gottumukkala, Jon Rosenberg, and Natalie Sellers.

In addition to Hugh Jackman as Robin Hood, the film’s cast also includes Jodie Comer ( Killing Eve , 28 Years Later ), Bill Skarsgård ( Nosferatu , IT ), Noah Jupe ( A Quiet Place , Honey Boy ) and Murray Bartlett ( The White Lotus , Meet Chippendales ).

Produced by Lyrical Media and Ryder Picture Company, and distributed by WME Independent, The Death of Robin Hood is expected on big screens worldwide in 2026.
